Maggie,

Dr. Marshall has written:

"Don't take minocycline with Calcium tablets or antacids, or with Orange or Grapefruit Juice. I recommend weak Hot Tea (not coffee) to wash the capsule down.

Benicar does seem to be absorbed more quickly if you break the tablet in two before taking it, and take it with a hot drink (weak tea). Otherwise the coating inhibits it from being dissolved in the stomach.

Weak Green Tea does mollify a protein called NuclearFactor-kappaB, and this gives a slight reduction in symptoms."

Best,

Meg

I was always intrested in matter that i feel worse after tea but better after coffee. I have no idea why it is like that.
Can it has something to do with dopamine which coffe increases ? I`ve read that dopamine is depressed in Parkinson disease

Maggie, I go for organic green tea with jasmine (Long Life Teas) and it is tasty even if weak. Best, P.B.(the other white bear)

Trader Joe's Jasmine Green Tea is my favored bag. Steep it for only 10-20 seconds. Just gives a hint of flavor.

English breakfast is a bit strong, I think. although Trader Joe's Irish Breakfast is less strident and pretty good when you actually want a drink, rather than just some fluid to wash down tablets and keep the kidneys working.

Redbush Tea is naturally caffeine-free.  It's made from a South African bush, hence the alternative name Rooibos, and you can get it in health shops and some supermarkets.  The taste takes a bit of getting used to, but I trained myself a few years ago when I realised I was a caffeine addict, and now I much prefer it to 'ordinary' tea.  It has plenty of all the good things that other teas have, like antioxidants and minerals.  Its flavonoids are quercetin, luteolin, and aspalathin.

But for swallowing pills, give me water every time!  Hot or cold.

I have been a fan of tea from the start, and I used to drink a glass of dilute green tea after every Benicar which I take every three hours. I did sense that it gave the medication an extra little boost.

However, when drinking green tea, really do only steep it for a very short time and I recommend rinsing your mouth out throughly after every glass or even quickly brushing your teeth.

This is because after drinking green tea with Benicar after about 3 months my teeth got noticibly stained. I would also stay away from the brand "Mighty Leaf" tea, which is delicious, but I feel also works mightily to stain teeth.

In any case, my teeth got pretty brown, and I had to get them professionally whitenened. Now I drink less tea and brush after every cup...

You know what is also really good? Hot water with lemon juice and a little sweetner such as Stevia. It feel it also helps promote good digestion as well..

If you are looking for a hot drink that can't steer you wrong, just plain hot water is actually pleasant.

Also, I could imagine that hot water with a few drops of Angostora Biters would be good.  I use it in soda water to have a zingy drink that doesn't have sugar or artificial sweetener in it.
