Thanks for the update Jacks and Alayne.
If your Planet Drugs brand of olmesartan works OK for you, I will order my next batch from them also. I would much prefer to deal with a supplier outlet in the US as long as their price is reasonable and the product works OK.

Interesting that the 20mg tablet from PharmaWebGlobal has a different taste and reaction than the 40mg tablet. I would think that to make the 40mg tablet they would use the same formulation as the 20mg tablet and just press it into a larger mould. Did they come in blister card packs of 10 to a card?
I wouldn't necessarily classify my experience with the MagicPharma olmesafe as a bad one. Maybe a learning experience. At this point I will not be buying any more from them. Although my reaction to the olmesafe (kind of an interesting name) was stronger, that might be a good thing if it is doing a better job. Only time will tell.
I just got an email from PharmaWebGlobal that says if you use Promo Code LP5234 , their price for generic 40mg olmesartan made in India is $82.03 for 100 tablets with free shipping, or $.8203 per tablet. Planet Drugs Direct price for generic 40mg olmesartan made in UK is $81.00 for 90 tablets with free shipping, or $.90 per tablet. It all depends on whether you want your generic made in India or the UK.

Yes, G.F., I thought that was very interesting as well. The 20mg came in blister packs and the 40mg came in the card. Perhaps they were changing their formulation (getting rid of the sweet) when I started with them and that might explain why they had all the 20mg tabs and no 40mg tabs. Perhaps it is cheaper to formulate without the sweet. Don't really know the answer though; just supposition. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask.
That's a great price for the brand. Perhaps I'll stick with PharmaWebGlobal, as they have my prescription and its just easier...at least through the refills.

I understand that, last October U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla. was working on a bill to legalize Americans buying drugs from Canadian pharmacies.
Maybe someone from his district could inquire on the status of that legislation?
This is the response back from Senator Nelson's office:

I asked for specific details on the status of the bill, and when it would be brought before the Senate for a vote, but it looks my inquiry was passed off to an intern for response. I will follow up with another inquiry.

I just wanted to report that we received our generic Benicar. Seems the pharmacy made a mistake - it's not from the UK at all, but India.
After experimenting with both the generic and brand Benicar, we deemed this particular generic to be on par with the brand.
It's called Olmecip (from Cipla) and the 40mg tabs come in blister packs. The tabs are white, round, and actually taste a little better than Benicar (not hard to do! ). They also seem to dissolve more easily under the tongue.
A friend of mine on the MP, who has a great deal of experience with immunopathology responses and comparing their levels, asked me to post this quote after experimenting with the same Olmecip:
I got my Benicar through the Texas based company (Planet Drugs) a couple days ago. And I'm happy to report I detect no difference in its effect compared with Sankyo (it even looks and tastes the same -- except it is round and a little smaller). I have alternated between the two several times over the last couple of days. It appears there are a number of generics from India. Hopefully they will continue to use this particular one, since it seems satisfactory.
So, for now, this'll work! Very happy.

A company called Mylan Pharmaceuticals has applied to the FDA to market a generic Olmesartan (originating in India). They have been sued by Sankyo, alleging infringement of Sankyo's patent. There is not likely to be a decision (yes or no) for at least 6-12 months.

My co-worker's brother is a pharmacist in India. I asked what the price was for someone to buy Olmesartan Medoxomil there, and he wrote:
"olmesartan medoxomil without HCT are available as 20 mg tablets. A strip containing 7 tabs is priced at Rs42"
Based on current exchange rates, 42 Rupees is about $1.04 in US dollars. That is $.30 per 40mg dose.

Today received first supply of 40mg olmecip from PlanetDrugsDirect.com for 90 cents per tablet with free shipping. Took 17 days from date of order until receipt. Will start taking them when present supply of olmesafe runs out.

The current price for the generic ones from India, through this Texas based company that Grey Fox is referring to is only 90 cents for each 40 mg. tablet ($81.00 for 90 tablets with free shipping).

I noticed that MP has approval letters from the Dept of Health & Human Services for Mino and Clinda but I do not see one for Benicar. Has it been approved yet?

No, we haven't got approval for Olmesartan yet.
FDA says they are not yet convinced there is a "medically plausible basis for expecting the drug to be effective in the treatment .. of that disease or condition."
We haven't given up, and are continuing to work behind the scenes to keep our applications moving. Or to get the FDA reviewers' brains in gear. Whichever happens first

| I have Part D with AARP, veterans benefits and insurance from my retirement which is the same United carrier as AARP. So far, the best I've done is to get 30/month paid for by AARP since I had borderline hypertension but am still having to buy 90/month myself. An online help group for Part D problems told me that Cigna Part D would cover the whole 120 per month but I haven't been able to verify that. Since I can change Part D coverage on the 15th of the month I was wondering whether anyone has been successfull in getting the full 120 from a part D plan. It also occurs to me that VA should have an interest in MP because of the thousands of veterans suffering from agent orange and Gulf Way Sydrome. Any news on that front would be appreciated as I am writing my Senator about the problem.

The recurring excuse that I have gotten during the appeal process as a reason for denial of coverage for q6h Benicar is that "The quantity cannot be over-ridden because of the dosage recommended by the manufacturer."
It seems that Sankyo could at a minimum triple their Benicar sales by conducting a study to verify the results obtained by the hundreds of people on this web site benefiting from q6h Benicar dosing.
What is the possibility of proposing such a study to the Sankyo VP of Marketing and provide him with the results from this MP Study Site?
