This is a little off topic, but I have seen a few people mention that with the NoIRs on they can't see their keyboards and have a hard time typing. Help(maybe)is here! There is a FREE program available for download called Dasher, and it is intended as an alternative to keyboard based typing. One of the applications is special needs, which I suppose applies to the NoIR wearing populace.

It's a little hard to describe how it works. You "fly", using your mouse, through the letters as they present themselves on the right side of the screen. However, the program also has some artificial intelligence and will learn your word patterns and it makes the letter sequences you type most often easier to find by making the next letter you "need" bigger and thus easier to hit. You really have to look at a demo to see what I'm saying. Suffice it to say it does work quite well, and I have been able to hit 25+ WPM with it with very little practice. The more you use and train it, the better it becomes. Speed is adjustable.

Once you have "typed" all you want, you cut and paste into your regular application. It's simple and it works. Not as fast as touch typing, but it's great as an alternative. Give it a look, please. If nothing else, it's highly amusing. :D It's great for free association.

I hope I'm not violating any policy by putting this here, just remove it if it's a problem - it seems like a useful tool to the sight-reduced.
