Day 66 MP
Hi All
I've meant to write an update here weekly - whether I keep it up is yet to be seen.
So far phase 2 is progressing well -
I'm seeing the same reactions as in the earlier phase 1 - muscle aches, sinus headaches, my head is a little clearer but my eyes feel tired / sore.
It's good - herxing tolerably
actually what's really good is that I've started to feel that my spark is returning - it's not back yet, I still have the foggy head. aches and lethargy but I've begun to feel that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It's subtle and hard to explain but it's there.
Paul

I had intended to post here regularly but . . . .. o well . . . . . I’ve only posted once before.
I have now been on MP for 12 months – it only seems like yesterday my first supply of Benicar and my NOIRs arrived.
Things have improved substantially – I’m not there yet but well on my way. People are noticing the improvements DW, Doctor, boss . . .
The whole list of IP reactions I’ve had is too long to list – but includes weird dreams, aches and pains, sinus headaches, itches, shivers, shakes, crankiness . . . . . . Some days you feel good enough to run a marathon, others you feel like you’ve been hit by a bus - you’ve just got to take each day as it comes and make the most (but not too much) of the good ones.
I’ve worked throughout and had very few days off – and had to go home early not too often (which I was doing pre- MP).
Key areas of improvement
Fatigue - Pre MP was lucky to see 8pm – now 10pm is usually OK (makes a big difference to the Benicar schedules)
Pins and needles particularly in hands 95% resolved
Brain Fog - 90% resolved – my head is generally much clearer
Depression - 100% resolved
Tinitus – still waiting for resolution
More productive at work - now usually able to stay for full day
Moles / skin spots – still watching them change on a regular basis
Currrently watching old scars reacting as my immune system works on them
Eyes still blurry (probably immunopathy) waiting for resolution
Legs – still suffering from dead / tired legs maybe 70% resolved
Introvertedness –improving but still some way to go
Arthritis in hands 80% resolved
I have more of a spring in my step – and am looking forward to increasing my exercise level
Thanks to Dr Marshall, Meg, Vez, Belinda, Barb (keep on hanging in there Barb) and the rest of the team who continue to “subvert the dominant paradigm” (overthrowing the accepted thinking) on a daily basis.
Thanks also to the rest of the MP cohort who have provided support and advice
Paul

Turning the Corner
Over the last couple of months things have changed – I am now better than I was at diagnosis 3 ½ years ago and certainly much, much better than I was at MP start 17 months ago.
My thinking has changed from a day to day (minute by minute) “I must manage my disease / recovery” to a longer term view “what am going to do as I continue to get better”
What am I going to do ? I’m not sure, I’ve got a few ideas but I’m not rushing into them just yet. . . . there’s this canoe marathon run annually on a local river, 111km and it’s run at night (MP appropriate) – I’m thinking October 2009 and maybe fundraising. . . maybe learn to play guitar better (now that my fingers are working better and my head is clearer) . . .. I dunno - plenty of other thoughts.
Work has changed from hanging in there (and considering whether a medical retirement was close) to my boss arranging for me to relieve in a higher position. He’s seen and noted my improved functioning and productivity.
Physically I’ve gone from seriously thinking I’d need a disabled parking sticker soon and needing help to move my guitar amp around - to last week driving 2000+km for a holiday with 3 kids and being able to regularly walk and do those odd jobs around the house. I’m thinking that in a month or 3, I might get back on the push bike (we’ll see).
I’ve still got a long way to go and physically I still need to pace myself. I’m having IP at a managable level and looking forward to more of my symptoms resolving. I’m still careful with light.
Thanks to All
Paul

Hi Paul,
I just got to this Phase. It was very encouraging to read about your improvements and the way you are starting to feel. It may seem small to some, but to us sarcoid patients, any little improvement is monumental for us. I have only been diagnosed since last March. It's amazing how it takes over your life in such a short period of time. I am so glad that I decided to start the Protocol in April of this year. I am a Nurse, and also have a Biology degree. When I read about the Marshall Protocol, I read all that I could about it, and it made a lot of sense to me. I shared the info with my colleagues, and family, and got the same reactions from them as I felt. What else can you lose? It's better than the alternatives, and it makes sense. Well, I am so glad I started it, and I am in it for the long haul. I did have to quit work, but I am feeling more encouraged that I can start again in the near future as I start to feel better, and begin to have an increase in tolerance for work. I actually look forward to it again. Thanks again for your encouraging Post.
