Hello all!
Well, I ordered my Noirs today and I have an appt with my doctor on Tuesday to discuss the MP! At some point in time I feel that my husband should have his Vit D tested as well. We both were taking doxycycline for 3 years (myself for uveitis and my husband also had an inflammatory eye problem that had initially been misdiagnosed as glaucoma) We were told it was mycoplasma. I am very concerned about resistant mycoplasma bacteria. My husband is a colon cancer survivor and has been taking a prescription of 1mg folic acid for a few years for what I believe, if I remember correctly, was abnormal or enlarged red blood cells for which no doctor would give us an explanation as to the cause. He decided to discontinue the folic acid a few days ago and we are both changing our diets to exclude most Vit D. We were use to eating alot of fish and find it challenging trying to figure out what to eat. My husband is not as strict with his meal choices as I am. I plan on starting the MP by the end of the month. If my husband need to go on the MP when would be best for him to start? After I am finished with Phase 1, Phase 2 or ??? Any suggestions as to what works best would be most welcome!!
Thank you!
DianeC

Diane C,
IMHO, your husband should have his D test ASAP and start MP as quickly as the doc will write the scrip.
That is neat that you two can do this together. It will give the opportunity to share your herx ideas and how to lessen them.

Hi Barney,
Thank you for your reply! I was just concerned that if we both were to start together; that if we are both feeling terrible because of herxing at the same time, who would be here to do the daily chores, etc. As long as there is little chance of passing the mycoplasma back and forth, I thought I would start first just to get a feel for what is in store. The other issue is that my husband does not have photosensitivity so is he also required to wear the Noirs and avoid sunlight as well. That will be hard for him to do as I don't think he will be as commited until he sees me getting results. I don't think that he will want to start with me. I am just concerned that we will be passing mycoplasma back and forth. We have been together for 20 years.
Thank you!

DianeC,
Chores are something that can wait a day or two. Everyone must rinse their own dishes, etc. and help with all of it. I guarantee that no dishes or laundry will do itsself but I also guarantee that they will all wait on you to get around to them.
If your husband would be a better MPer if he saw your results, than maybe that would be best. But, OTOH, (on the other hand) if you went thru it together, you would be done together and into a normal life together instead of waiting for the other to catch up. Strictly your and your huband's choice.
His eyes will definitely become light sensitive as he starts into MP and YES HE WILL HAVE TO USE NOIRS OUTSIDE especially and if your house is not dark enough, he will have to wear Noirs inside. Just think, dark house, dim lights, ROMANCE everywhere (haha).

Hi Barney,
At this point in time I know he will not be interested. He feels really good now so only time will tell if he will agree to it later. He was joking with me earlier with reference that I will be living in a cave!
Yes, you are right the chores will get done eventually.
Thanks again!

My husband and I have been married for just three years now, together for five. We have been on the MP for over one year and had been doing several other protocols for fibro and cfs. My husband is a Phys. Assistant and works with many sick couples.
It is the common belief that if you are in a relationship and your partner is not participating, you probably will not get completly well, as you will continue to trade the illness back and forth. Many variances here, of course. But there are just too many co-inky-dinks happening now for even the govt. to keep sweeping under the rug - how can we keep from not noticing much longer?
One of my husbands married patients have a scoring system each morning - they rate the day by 1-10. 1 being the best and 10 being the worse pain they have exp. This lets them communicate instantly with little explanation and less room for irritation! So if she tells him she is having a three day and he tells her he is haveing an 8 day, she knows to give him a wide berth and she should not act so perky around him! He could then tell her an hour later he is about a 5 and feeling better but still not willing to drive to the mall and she may now feel like a 7 and not feel like fixing dinner.
My husband and I have been blessed that most of the time we herx on opposite days and we are able to take care of each other. The beauty of the MP is that you can also modify it so that you can plan for your meds to herx at times that will work for both of you! We have had some pretty rough times and the emotional herxes are really hard, because you do not really understand it until afterwards. That is why it is really important to use this site and support often. There are a lot of good mentors here. And use your sense of humor!
You never know how sick you really are until you start killing off those buggers and you really do not know how long it will take. But you should not put it off any longer, that is for sure.
What my husband and I are greatful for is the better quality of life we have. We have greatter stamina than a year ago - yes we are still sick - but not as sick - we are stonger and we have checked off so many illnesses. My husband has lost over 6 inches off his belt since Christmas and looks 15 years younger!
I would just buy your husband some glasses too, keep him on the same diet (you have to cook for two anyway) and offer him the medication - he will probably say no - then offer it again until he accepts - when he notices you getting well, he will want to get better too. (however, he may not understand when you start getting sick)
He will come around, 20 years is a long time to invest in someone - good luck and just get started!

Hello Diana,
That is wonderful that you and your husband have decided to do the MP together! It is great that you can control the intensity of the herx by adjusting the dose. Reading posts like yours are really encouraging. Right now and for the last week I have been feeling much better but I realize that is temporary because I have eliminated most Vit D and all folic acid. I do hope that at some time in the future he will agree to it but I know that it will not be at this time. That scoring system sounds like a great idea!
Thank you!
