News flash: GM Vaccine for blood pressure targets angiotensin II.
Could these researchers be playing with fire?
Are you aware of this research, and is it of value to discuss it on this forum?
I just read about it in The Australian newspaper today, then searched for more info on the internet.
CYT006-AngQb is a therapeutic vaccine in development for treatment of hypertension1. It is designed to instruct the patient’s immune system to produce an antibody response against angiotensin II.
Swiss lab Cytos is testing a vaccine that causes the immune system to target angiotensin II. And in an ironic twist of fate, these researchers are, essentially, giving patients an "autoimmune" disease of sorts! (They say it is "short-lived" immunity, so not to worry.) So... if these patients, having been vaccinated, develop a bacterial infection and are treated with antibiotics, will they have a dangerous (unexpected) Herx reaction? Coincidentally, it looks to me that they are accidentally putting them on a regime similar to the use of Olmesartan in the MP, probably without making all the connections, intellectually. Sounds like a recipe for disaster (similar to the Holland / probiotics event) to me.

Vaccines are used to create anti bodies the body will use to prevent viral disease.
what virus are they saying causes high blood pressure?
For them to sell a symptom as a disease is ridiculous.
It would seem the establishment has fooled itself.

According to information that I have, vaccines are used for NOT only viral, but bacterial and protozoa based disease, too.

Well, they are fiddling about with viral particles (I think it may even involve some genetic-tinkering? not sure) to create something to "stimulate" production of antibodies to our own angiotensin II. Here is a statement from the company:
"... we take non-infectious particles with a virus shape and chemically couple them with angiotensin II so the body begins to vigorously attack angiotensin II," said Martin Bachmann, Ph.D., senior co-author of the study and chief scientific officer at Cytos Biotechnology AG in Zurich

It sounds to me like they have the proverbial little bit of knowledge which "can be a dangerous thing."
