On the final day of the Karolinska DMM2008 Conference, Paul Albert interviewed each of Meg, Amy and I, memorializing our recollections of the event, and summarizing what we had been presenting.

Sorry this took so long to edit and post online. I decided to make sure that this was recorded in HD, so that in 5-10 years time it would still be a valuable record (I think the tiny YouTube caricatures will disappear in a year or two). It can also go straight onto the next DVD that we put out

I really just wanted to be there to see it all happen live, but the videos sure beat the cost of the plane ticket for me (wink).
The team effort certainly made a huge difference. Three telling the story! Whoops! FOUR if you include Paul's astute questions. Thank you all. Here's hoping the science and medical souls at Karolinska took the opportunity to notice MP acceptance and growth as Dr Marshall discussed.
I particularly appreciate Dr Marshall's continued ability to capture and report the most relevant findings of other scientists that rise to the top of top events like this, and how those findings relate and support the Marshall Pathogenesis. Not only to confirm their data and work, but also because of the immediate translational capability of the MP itself via the delivery mechanism of the Internet.
[Too bad Andy Grove is not reading here yet. Also another Parkinson's story, Patty Stonesifer sits atop the Gates foundation while her husband Michael Kinsley (Slate magazine founder), suffers from early onset Parkinsons. I wish he had better than risky surgery and levodopa/carbidopa (Sinemet). I wish he could find the MP.]
Dr Marshall's message is important to everyone, that Th1 disease means many, many genes are transcribed so genetic researchers are coming away shaken with the sheer numbers of genes impacted by disease. Maybe they are ready to hear more about biofilm pathogens about now.
[Interesting to compare to today's political news... listening to congresswoman and microbiologist Louise Slaughter (D-NY) discuss why House approval means employers/insurance would be banned from discriminating on the basis of genes, and her motivational quote that everyone has about 20% faulty genes... Hmmm. Politicians know part of the story now.]
I was impressed with Meg's explanation of MP study site nurse staff's altruistic effort and dedication to helping those suffering cognitive impairment, and her report that cognitive challenges actually resolve as one tackles down other physical disease markers.
Amy was clear, concise, and correct. Her ability to convey science concepts is already known on her blog and writing is essential to help move through the paradigm shifts Dr Marshall spoke about, but her ability to communicate verbally, and quickly, was/is just brilliant, and was so great to watch/hear.
I'm glad she spoke with many scientists and researchers during the poster session. But I'm so glad she waved her hand and asked that single important question about pathogens. If she went for nothing but that question alone it was worth the trip. I looked at the room when she asked the question and saw many industry leaders having to stop just like the speaker to ponder implications of what has been understood at the MP for quite some time. The Marshall Pathogenesis is the question and answer of the day.
Thank you Paul for the film record. Maybe, some day, all those excess nursing fees and documentary funds can be thrown together for a huge MP celebration some time ( wink ).

| Kudos to everyone. The format is a great way of describing the conference, and provides a snap shot in time of the MP and where the MP is relative to other complementory discoveries presented. The portion with Trevor made me think that it would be great to have an interview of Trevor by Amy on Bacteriality covering the history (may be the beginning of the ground work for a book). Paul that was a great set of questions you kept dropping. Thank you
