The following form letter is suitable for doctors to give to patients to whom they are introducing the Marshall Protocol. It may be reproduced and should fit on 2 pages.

This letter is posted in the health care professionals forum but we realize many doctors interested in the MP may not see it there. If your doctor is ordering the MP for patients who have not accessed our study site (or is interested in doing so), you may wish to print a copy of this letter to give to doc at your next visit.

Dear prospective Marshall Protocol patient,

Because you have been diagnosed with a Th1 inflammatory illness, the Marshall Protocol (MP) is recommended to reduce symptoms and recover your health. Th1 diseases are chronic and serious. If left untreated, they can lead to life-threatening health problems.

The Marshall Protocol is based on the very latest scientific discoveries that have determined:

-Chronic and/or ‘autoimmune’ diseases are caused by Th1 inflammation.

-Th1 inflammation is due to invasion of the immune system by cell wall deficient bacteria.

-All Th1 inflammatory diseases are variations of the same biological process even though symptoms and diagnoses may be different.

-Supporting the immune system is the key to recovery while using very low, pulsed doses of carefully selected antibiotics to assist in killing the bacteria.

-The name of the specific bacteria causing the infection is irrelevant because response to the MP is evidence that the infection exists.

-Immune systems reactions are unavoidable because killing the bacteria causes increased inflammation.

The MP is different than any other treatment:

-No other treatment has such a high recovery rate. Other protocols only palliate symptoms.

-The patient is expected to take primary responsibility for his/her own recovery because management of the protocol often requires more time than a busy doctor has available.

-Treating the underlying cause of the disease with the MP, will cause a temporary increase in symptoms. The patient must learn to manage these symptoms to keep them tolerable.

-The MP is simple but quite detailed. In order to be safe and successful, the patient must learn about Th1 inflammation and the details of the MP.

Here is an outline of initial steps to begin the MP:

-Go to http://CureMyTh1.org  to register and create a signature line. The site administrator will help you if you are new to the computer. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW IS AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE. TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED to absorb the information.

-Find the General Discussion Forum and click on ‘New Topic’ to create a personal ‘thread’ where you will ask all pre-MP questions. Medically trained volunteers, who have been through the treatment, will respond to your inquiries in your thread.

-When you begin the protocol, register at http://www.marshallprotocol.com and post regular reports to receive 24/7 help with any problems that may occur. If you are not a good written communicator or you have trouble understanding the information or you have difficulty remembering, please ask a family member to help.

-Obtain ‘No Infrared’ sunglasses (NoIRs) before you start the MP because sunlight exposure is (or will be) a serious problem for most patients with Th1 inflammatory disease. The information about what kind to order and where to get them is on the website. It may take 2-3 weeks for the NoIRs to arrive.

-Obtain, from your doctor, prescriptions for Benicar and Minocycline-the two medicines you start with. Because some insurance will not pay for the larger-than-usual daily dose of Benicar, you may need to pay for some out-of-pocket. The website provides information about the cheapest sources.

-Read the Phase One Guideline until you thoroughly understand it.

-Avoid all sources of Vitamin D; both food and supplements.

-Reduce sunlight exposure by covering up outside and darkening your environment.

-Stop all contraindicated medication. Combining other protocols with the MP will not work and can lead to dangerous immunopathology.
