Previous reports on http://www.marshallprotocol.com/forum20/1417-3.html
Because of pretty severe herxing, I've decided to try Quercetin, and to drop back to 25mg mino q24hrs for a while. I was on 50mg q48hrs. I'm down to 1/2 of .1mg Florinef q24hrs.
I hope I can proceed to Phase 2 sometime before the next inauguration!

The Quercetin hasn't helped and I'm finding myself in difficulty. Here's what happened:
Weaning down on the Florineff had very bad results. My blood pressure dropped precipitously; I became seriously weak, dizzy, out of breath, and I couldn't function.
At the same time, what seemed like herxing got worse, so as you can see in the last posting, I went on 25mg mino q24 hrs.
When I saw my doctor, she wes alarmed at my blood pressure (64/0 when I stood up!--I don't know if she meant it or was exaggerating to make a point, but she really was alarmed!) and said I need to resume .1mg Florinef until I'm stabilized. She doesn't think I can maintain a normal blood pressure without it, at this point. It's very possible I didn't take enough time to wean, and that I will be more successful another time if I take it slower, but right now I agree with her that I have to stabilize.
At the same time, in spite of taking the lower dose of mino q24 hrs., (I had been on 50mg q48 hrs and doing ok before decreasing the Florinef) I continue to herx, with weakness and pains that seem to travel around my arms, legs, back, neck and shoulders. I'm also becoming increasingly depressed and anxious, symptoms I haven't felt in a long time, though the uncertainly and disappointment surely contribute.
I'm still taking Benicar, 40mg q6 hrs.
So my plan now is to go along with my Dr., who has recommended resuming .1 Florinef, and either lowering mino to 12.5 q48 hrs or stopping it for a while, then resuming the original protocol.
I really like to get your views on what's been happening and how to proceed. I understand the problem with Florinef, but can't resume trying to eliminate it at this point. What should I do about the Mino?
Sorry to present you with another tangled situation. Thank you for any help you can offer.
Carol
P.S. My doc is very supportive of the MP and does not want me to stop.Last edited on Sun Jan 23rd, 2005 15:17 by CLefelt

CLefelt says, "I've decided to try Quercetin, and to drop back to 25mg mino q24hrs for a while. I was on 50mg q48hrs."
First off, if you're not feeling better from the Quercetin, I would stop it for now. For many people in the early stages of the MP, the Q only intensifies the herxing, so you may not be far enough along to take the Q yet.
Secondly, I would continue to take 25mg of mino, but try to stretch out the dosing a little, to see how long you can stand it w/o too intense a herx. For example, try stretching it out to q36h first. Then, as tolerable, stretch it back out to q48h.
Once you get back to 25mg q48h, then you can ramp back up again.
And thirdly, we have 4 more yrs before the next inauguration; plenty of time.
PS Would you kindly include the date of when you started on mino in your sig line? BTW, what state is Highland Park in? You might want to include the state, too.

Carol,
By all means, you should follow your doctor's order to resume the Florinef. You can try to wean it later but for now, it's obvious that you still need it.
Your plan to alter your mino dosing sounds reasonable. Reenie's suggestions might work too. Trial and error will determine what will get you back on track.
Your assessment of the situation and your problem-solving skills are right on target.
Hang in there,
Meg
