Thanks for the update Carole. :)

We are all thinking of you Barney and those you "luv." :dude:

p.s., the ER instructions for the MP suggest saline (salt) IVs for low blood volume... not a bad idea if you know it works for you... it really did work for me the one time I went in 'dehydrated'.

UPDATE:

Still in Tennessee and still at the hospital on the cardiac floor.

Last night, I stayed with my son, so that my d-i-l could go home and get some needed rest and relaxation. We were up and down all night, but did get some quality sleep.

I have learned on this trip how VERY IMPORTANT WATER IS. One day, I did not drink hardly any water, only diet soda and I paid dearly for that...when I get a lot of water down me, I do much better and can cope thru the whole day, doing almost anything. SO REMEMBER YOUR WATER!!!!

Eddie is still on oxygen, he will be on cumodin the rest of his life (he is 47), he has a new metal aorta valvue (mechanical) in his heart and new leads from his leg veins to keep the blood flowing right (his other veins were 90/100% clogged. He is very unhappy that they (as he says) carved him up. I have explain to him that a year from now he will feel better. I will need to convince him to do MP. He is still on IV heprin and is insulin dependent for a while since the surgery even tho he is not diabetic. He is sleeping a lot more than they would like for him to, they can't hardly get him stay awake and is not eating hardly anything, he did eat his fresh fruit (some of it) this am. He is drinking some water. He is urinating okay.

They give him very little pain meds because they want him to wake up a little more. If he can get some more things up and running....he can go home in about 4 days.

On my way home, we will not do it in 24hrs this time, we will stop and sleep at a motel. I have no idea how much money we have spent on this trip, the shock sticker will be when I get home and add it up....right now I don't care, as long as my son lives and gets better.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND BEST WISHES.

Luv, Barney:D

HI BARNEY

This is Fred in WV.  I am glad to see things are going well for your son and you.  My valve was not bad enough to replace, so they never replaced it and I am sure glad of that now.

On the water thing, I have 4 to 6 16.9oz bottles of water on most days, but I have had to be out lately (grandkids) and I have found out that I need to drink more water while out side.  It makes me able to stand the light and heat better.

Hope you have a good and safe trip home and get back into your normal things again.

Remember, we are all in this together and I am pulling for us.

Your friend in Sarcoidosis

Freddie

Hi Barney:D,

That is wonderful news that your son had a Successful surgery and is on his way to recovery!   What a relief that must be for you!

Yes, water is so very important!  I drink a ton of it as well and find that in the warmer weather the body needs it so much more.

Wishing you a very safe trip home and be sure to take it slow and always have plenty of water on hand.

Hugs and Luv:D:D

Diane

I really miss reading on this site, but happened to stumble upon your posting.  Wishing you and your family much HEALTH, and a speedy recovery.

My Grandmother used to say, you have to make a Mom to be a Mommy.  What she meant was I needed to eat and rest to be strong for my children.  You are running on needed energy, brace yourself for the after effects.

You are a VERY strong person and I know all of you will get through this.  Time is a wonderful healer.  How lucky we are to have the MP.   To be able to endure situations that we had no strength for in the past.

Barney, THANK YOU for all you do, for all of us.  Remember to take some time for you too!

Wellness to All,  OX,   Lori

Thank you Lori for your kind words!!!

Eddie is doing good, wanting to go do some work somewhere, tired of being home sitting/sleeping...........but at least he is knowledgeable as to the fact that he needs to rest and does.

When I am posting to all the MPers.......I am resting. I have a laptop, sit in front of the tv in my recliner.....sometimes you will actually see me fully asleep in the middle of a post. Posting/answering is easy for me.

I do usually crash when I get back from a trip.....but the trips are getting easier and I am not down as long as I used to be. I did have to rest 2 days while I was in Tennessee.

Drink plenty of water, xtra (sea) salt  (regular salt is mostly chemicals) as needed, lots of rest while avoiding the sun and avoiding Vit D in your foods!!!!!

HANG IN THERE, WE WILL MAKE IT!!!BARNEY:D

I just had a phone call from Barney. She is on her way to her grandkids in Albuquerque. They were hit by lightning on the way home from a fireworks show. One is dead, another very ill. Barney has not taken her computer, and will check-in once she gets a better handle on exactly what happened.

I am sure you will all join me in helping Barney any way we can as she copes with this tragedy.

..Trevor..
