During DNA-day in China (April 2011) I was introduced to Prof Sergey Suchov, from the Moscow Medical Academy. A couple of months ago I received an invitation from Prof Olga Golubnitschaja at the University of Bonn, via Sergey, to speak at the opening of the 2011 EPMA World Congress in Bonn.
Well, as you all know, over the last few weeks I have traveled to Bonn, and to the Antibodies conference in Dresden, squeezing in a quick visit with our own 'Titta' between the two events, as well as the UGESA meeting in Bonn with Inge Lindseth and members from Holland and Germany.
I think the mood at the EPMA congress is best epitomized by the presentation made during the special session in the former German Parliament chamber - the Bundeshaus. The speaker was John Bowis, OBE, a former UK health minister, and a longtime member of the UK and European parliaments. Since his retirement he has remained active in many European health organizations and committees.
John spoke about 'empowering patients" and "patient's rights." This is a video you will all enjoy. It raises questions for citizens of every country, not just the UK and the EU.
