A fascinating new study has been published (click here) by a Belgian research team: "Crosstalk between the Microbiome and Cancer cells by Quorum Sensing peptides"
As is the custom these days, the study was done in-vitro using a colon cancer cell line and examining just a few pathways in detail. I would have been a lot happier to see some in-vivo confirmation, but since their result lines up with what we see - a very low incidence of metastasis in our members - I am inclined to accept it <--- (Note to self: this inclination is bad scientific method, Trevor)
In any case, this is one of the first papers actually naming specific elements of the the microbiome as a cause of a human disease.
..Trevor..

Sequential intranodal immunotherapy induces antitumor immunity and correlated regression of disseminated follicular lymphoma.

Sorry, I didn't know where to put this.
In my opinion this shows the importance of immune stimulation to combat cancer.

I did not know where to ask about this. It has been all over the news this week, about a British Columbia woman named Trish Keating. Apparently, she has been fighting Colon Cancer for 5 years now. As her last diagnosis, was terminal, with no hope left, she paid $30,000 to have genome testing. She was put on a secret blood pressure medication, and is now Cancer free after just 5 weeks treatment. OK, so why would this be published as secret? Someone out there must be able to guess, better than me as to what drug this could be, or actually know more facts than are being published. This may be relevant information for those studying our site. Bevin Black

Now Lim is busy writing up the case for publication in a medical journal so that doctors around the world can benefit from the blood pressure drug discovery and perhaps use it on other patients. (Lim is withholding the name of the drug until the case is published.)
“We’ve never tried this medication before, nor has anyone else to my knowledge. Yes, we hit a home run. But it takes a lot of steps and we could never do this without the Genome Sciences Centre.”

I am shocked that this heart medication has worked this well, said Lim.
He said Keating's blood pressure has been closely monitored over the past three months to ensure the medication, which Keating
believes she may be on for life, doesn't lower it too much

Very curious! If it really is olmesartan it would undoubtedly put the MP in different light for many outsiders !

Thank You. I did not want to jump to that conclusion without proof. Is it another ARB, that blocks the uptake of a specific protein used by the Cancer? The main reason for the post though, was to show that they are now using science to sequence genes, and to use the proper drugs, that would have stopped the disease in the first place. It reminded me of what Health Canada did to us. We were put on Prednisone till the edge of death. Then under the SAP program, we were allowed to import Benicar, and return to normal. Just like Trish Keating, I was angry with the health system that caused me so much pain suffering and expense. I am lucky and thankful to have lucked into the Marshall Protocol, in the nick of time and against almost all Doctor's wishes. Bevin Black

Interesting talk by Prof Thomas Seyfried, Department of Biology, Boston College, on how cancer is a metabolic disease and challenging the dogma that cancer is a genetic disease.

The immunosurveillance hypothesis is that cancer cells are continually arising in the body but that normally the immune system kills them
I put my confidence in this theory more and more, since it is congruent with my experience of 3 kinds of cancer, and with my mother's death.
I am puzzled that the medical community still regards it as a mere hypothesis

Interesting discovery on E.coli bacteria by the team of Hans Clevers:
A common gut microbe secretes a carcinogen
https://www.hubrecht.eu/a-common-gut-microbe-secretes-a-carcinogen/
"Cancer mutations can be caused by common gut bacteria carried by many people. This was demonstrated by researchers from the Hubrecht Institute (KNAW) and Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht, the Netherlands."

The Gut: Where Bacteria and Immune System Meet
https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/research/advancements-in-research/fundamentals/in-depth/the-gut-where-bacteria-and-immune-system-meet
[..]
Winglee infected five mice with TB. Then, she collected stool samples once a month until the mice died and analyzed the genetic material they contained.
She found that TB changed the bacterial communities significantly. Soon after infection, the diversity of the gut microbiota dropped off. As time went on, the samples became more diverse, but with different bacteria than were there before the mice got TB.
The TB infections were in the lungs, but these differences showed up in the gut. Winglee and her colleagues think that the immune system is sending a signal about infection from lung to gut, which appears to respond by killing off certain species. Their next step is to figure out what aspects of the immune system are contributing to the massacre.
