"Our research shows that the number of hypothalamic neural stem cells naturally declines over the life of the animal, and this decline accelerates aging," says senior author Dongsheng Cai, M.D., Ph.D., (professor of molecular pharmacology at Einstein. "But we also found that the effects of this loss are not irreversible. By replenishing these stem cells or the molecules they produce, it's possible to slow and even reverse various aspects of aging throughout the body."
We have been seeing phenomena associated with using the Faraday Cages and shielded clothing to accelerate healing from inflammatory disease, phenomena which I would normally describe as 'reversing aging', but I have been hesitate to suggest such a thing. Looks like it was not so preposterous an observation...

ps: Remember that recent discoveries have shown the brain controls the Blood-Glucose metabolism (dysfunctional in Diabetes) and also the Immune System (via TNF-alpha release from the spleen). Maybe it has control of everything???

Sallie, you might cite (in MPKB) a decade-old letter I wrote to the Immunity and Ageing journal:

https://news.usc.edu/63669/fasting-triggers-stem-cell-regeneration-of-damaged-old-immune-system/
The data refers to hematopoietic stem cells, but with more research, maybe other stem cells will also be seen to be stimulated.
I don't see any reason to see this as in conflict with the MP. I have been using fasting for a day (36 hours) every 3 to 4 days. I had been doing 3 days every week, but found it was too stressful. I'm hoping for a great deal more research to clarify how short the fasting can be and still stimulate stem cell activation and how wide spread the stem cell activity is.

Cynthia, following some links from the article you shared, I ended up here:

Interesting that they tested adrenal status.

I've read that magic mushroom will calm an overactive hypothalamus among other beneficial things. I heard about someone who was taking 5 liberty caps a week to stop cluster headache for example.
Anyone knows what it might be doing?

I want the time back from chasing prednisone, pre-MP.
Some of the supplements suggested during MP actually worked to moderate things. Does get expensive being your own guinea pig, though.
